The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission yesterday morning carried out a raid at the Abuja residence of two close associates of the former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva - his brother in law, Richie Imoh Tommy and bosom friend, Asogwa Kelvin.
Our correspondent learnt that the commission raided the houses in Maitama area of Abuja as part of the ongoing investigation of the former governor who is also standing trial at an Abuja court.
Asogwa followed Sylva to Bayelsa where it is believed they did a number of deals together.
Among the items recovered in the house of Asogwa were foreign currencies and documents relating to some of the companies the EFCC is investigating.
While in Tommy’s house, personal files of Sylva, as well as international passport of Sylva’s children and C of O of a number of properties in proxy names were recovered.
EFCC Spokesman Wilson Uwujaren who confirmed the raid and items recovered to Our Source said that the two men were still undergoing interrogation as at press time yesterday and may be charged to court after investigation.
Uwujaren said that all items recovered from the homes where documented and signed before they were taken away to the commission’s head office.
